Read February 13 as a save-the-date announcement
The official homepage gives February 13, 2027 as the next event date. It also retains lower-page references to the Year of the Horse despite the newer Goat announcement. Use the explicit save-the-date for the announced year; do not use a stray zodiac label to reconstruct an alternative schedule.
For comparison, Alhambra Unified School District and participating Cal State LA documented the 2026 festival on February 28, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Those hours describe that earlier edition. Put a reminder in your planning notes to check the new programme instead of copying the old opening time into a 2027 itinerary.
A local festival with an institutional history
The organizer’s homepage traces the festival to 1993 and describes its San Gabriel Valley setting. That is an institutional account of a continuing local event, not evidence that every booth, performance or street arrangement has remained the same since its beginning.
Approach the festival as a place where people choose how to share heritage in public. A stage performance and a household New Year gathering serve different purposes. You can learn something from the programme without expecting one afternoon to explain every regional custom or every Asian American experience.
Use the 2026 zones to understand the format
The organizer’s Street Festival page is explicitly headed for 2026. It describes Main Stage performances, Artisan Alley, a Kids Zone and a Wellness Walkway. Its entertainment description includes Chinese and Vietnamese folk dance and lion dancing. These details show the documented variety of the earlier programme; they are not guarantees of next year’s lineup.
Our suggestion is to choose a route around your interests. Someone looking for makers might start with the artisan area, while a family may want to locate an activity zone first. When the new map appears, check the year before saving it. A familiar zone name does not establish that its position or exhibitors are unchanged.
Participation can be a conversation, not a checklist
Cal State LA’s own 2026 listing records a university booth and a Cultural Passport experience. This provides a concrete example of educational participation in that edition. Check for a new description before promising children a stamp activity or another particular reward.
At a booth, ask what an object, performance or activity means to the person presenting it. Questions about their own work leave room for a specific answer. Ask before close photographs, keep queues and paths clear, and let children watch before deciding whether to join. Buying an item is optional; price or a festive design alone cannot verify its origin.
Confirm admission, arrival and access directly
The homepage currently says “Parking Information (TBA).” We have not verified a complete 2027 parking plan, a detailed access map or an admission and booking policy for that edition. Use the official contact page for those questions before making a journey that depends on a particular arrangement.
Give organizers a practical question they can answer: where a step-free arrival point will be, whether seating is available, or which entrance is nearest a planned activity. Save the final map when published. For a group, choose a meeting point outside the performance audience and allow time for a break rather than planning every minute around an old schedule.
Keep neighbouring festivals distinct
Monterey Park’s Garvey Avenue festival and Alhambra’s Main Street festival are separate events. Their names may appear together in regional roundups, but their dates, maps and contacts are not interchangeable. Start each visit with its own organizer page, and recheck close to departure for changes to hours, transport and activities.
A useful distinction
A new date in the site header does not automatically update the year of every programme and vendor page.
Frequently asked questions
3 common questions
- What is the announced 2027 Alhambra festival date?
- The official save-the-date gives Saturday, February 13, 2027. Reconfirm the detailed programme and hours when the organizer updates them.
- Can I use the 2026 vendor map for 2027?
- Use it only to understand the earlier festival’s format. The Street Festival page still labels its map and programme 2026; booth positions and participants need a current-year confirmation.
- Where should I look for parking or booking information?
- Start with the official festival homepage and contact page. Parking is currently marked TBA. Ask about admission, reservations and any access requirement rather than assuming an old arrangement continues.
